How We Choose Our Editor's Picks
ShinyRidesList exists to help Adelaide drivers find car detailers they can trust. Our Editor's Picks are the businesses we'd personally recommend to a friend.
Editor's Pick designations are not for sale. They are awarded through editorial review and cannot be purchased, promoted, or influenced by paid placement.
What we look for
A business may be designated as an Editor's Pick when it meets the following criteria:
- 1
Verified relationship
We have personally contacted the business owner, confirmed the accuracy of their listing, and reviewed their work.
- 2
Consistent quality
A minimum 4.5-star average across at least 20 public Google reviews, sustained over 6 months or more. New operators can qualify if their work and customer feedback are exceptional.
- 3
Specialisation or distinction
The business demonstrates clear expertise in their category — recognised certifications, distinctive specialisation, awards, or a track record of work that stands out within Adelaide.
- 4
Customer responsiveness
No pattern of unresolved customer complaints. Communication, transparency, and after-sales service consistent with what we'd expect from a business we'd send a friend to.
- 5
Operating standards
A registered Australian business with a valid ABN, proper insurance for the work performed, and clear pricing communicated to customers.
How often picks change
Editor's Picks are reviewed quarterly. We add new picks when businesses earn the designation. We remove picks when standards aren't maintained. We don't rotate picks for the sake of freshness — these are genuine recommendations, not weekly features.
Can a business request to be considered?
Yes. Businesses listed on ShinyRidesList can express interest in editorial review, but inclusion is at our sole discretion. We may also designate Editor's Picks without being asked.
How is this different from other badges?
Editorial recommendation. Not for sale. Awarded after personal review.
Business has been contacted and the listing confirmed accurate.
Paid placement. Clearly disclosed under Australian Consumer Law.
Have feedback about a pick?
If you've had a poor experience with an Editor's Pick business, please let us know. We review feedback as part of our quarterly editorial process.
